Friend,
As we begin the most active part of hurricane season, it’s important that we continue our proactive approach to protect our community from the threat of storms and flooding.
Our city’s highest point is only seven feet above sea level, making us highly vulnerable to storm surge and heavy rainfall. Even a typical summer downpour can overwhelm storm drains when debris is left unchecked.
That’s why the City deploys public work crews to stay ahead of the storm by clearing our storm drains.
Always have a hurricane plan prepared and make sure you are aware of evacuation routes and closest emergency shelters. Click here for more information on the City’s Hurricane Preparedness.
Let’s take action now to protect every home and every neighbor in our community.
Storm season doesn’t only bring water, it also brings mosquitoes. Standing water becomes a breeding ground, so make sure to regularly dump anything that holds water. Any resident can request Mosquito Control from Broward County either by calling 3-1-1 or submitting an online request here. County mosquito professionals have already sprayed neighborhoods both via trucks to eliminate larvae and by air to eliminate adult mosquitoes.
Stay safe.
