Friend,
At our most recent City Commission meeting, we addressed a number of important issues that directly impact the safety, affordability, and quality of life in Pembroke Pines.
We began by honoring four residents whose quick action saved the lives of four plane crash victims last month. Recognizing their bravery was a reminder of the incredible people who make our city strong.
State Representative Robin Bartleman provided a legislative update, highlighting a bipartisan effort that secured a two-year pause on reserve contributions for condo owners. This will provide meaningful relief for residents facing high costs, thanks to her work with local leaders like Century Village HOA President Wendell Ensey and the One Voice Coalition.
I strongly supported the rezoning of a section of Pembroke Gardens to allow for a proposed 308-unit, mixed-use community – including 44 affordable units. Importantly, Pembroke Pines residents will be given priority for housing assistance. This project could bring much-needed housing options while maintaining a vibrant shopping and dining area.
We also passed a resolution calling on the FAA and Broward County to investigate ongoing safety issues and complete the air quality study promised for North Perry Airport. This is about protecting residents’ health and safety, not about closing the airport. It’s unacceptable to see so many accidents and do nothing. We need our governmental partners to act.
This job is about more than voting on projects – it’s about ensuring accountability, protecting residents, and planning for the future.
Stay safe, stay informed.
