E-Blast: Champions in our community + a few updates…

Neighbors,
Last night, the Pembroke Pines City Commission held our latest meeting, and I wanted to share a few highlights with you.
One of the best moments of the evening was recognizing the West Broward High School competitive cheerleading team for winning their seventh FHSAA Class 2A Competitive Cheerleading Championship and their second national championship in the D1 Large Non-Tumbling division.

The Commission also recognized Women’s History Month, taking a moment to acknowledge the many women in our community whose leadership, service, and contributions continue to shape Pembroke Pines. From educators and business owners to public servants and community leaders, their work strengthens our city every day.
In addition to these recognitions, the Commission addressed several operational matters that help keep the city running smoothly. We approved several procurement items related to city services and infrastructure.
We also ratified a Memorandum of Agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management that will allow the city to participate in enhanced alert and mass notification services.
Toward the end of the meeting, the Commission also took an initial step toward establishing clearer policies for how town hall meetings are conducted so they remain focused on informing residents about city issues.
Before I finish up with all these updates, I want to remind you that Election Day is next week on Tuesday, March 10.
There is no early voting, so Election Day will be the opportunity to vote in person. If you received a Vote-by-Mail ballot, you can still return it at an official Broward County drop-off location before Election Day.
Your participation in local elections matters. These decisions directly affect our neighborhoods, our parks, public safety, resources for our kids, and the services our families rely on every day.
Thank you for staying engaged and for being part of what makes Pembroke Pines such a strong community.
Sincerely,
– Mike Hernández
